First, you need to know who we are. Stutz, Schuh & Associates, Inc. (SSA) is a woman owned consulting firm specializing in providing services to industry and government in specific areas of interest.
SSA was selected to serve as the Project Manager/Incident Commander for the Anthrax remediation of the former AMI building in Boca Raton, FL. SSA is also the organization responsible for the management of the Capitol Hill Anthrax Project. On the 19th of October 2001, the Congressional Leadership (specifically the House Appropriations Committee) chose SSA to lead the effort and Dr. Stutz was appointed to serve as the Incident Commander (IC) through both the Crisis Management phase and subsequently the Consequent Management phase of the Capitol Anthrax Incident.
Since the entire project was of a nature that had never been accomplished before, it required scientists, engineers and technicians who were insightful and innovative. Virtually every effort, regardless of its size, was an actual experiment that had to be conceived of, designed, tested and verified. All of this had to be done in real time and as quickly as possible. Each day the Congress did not have full use of its facilities created more problems. The lessons learned were significant. Other operations involving the remediation of Anthrax should take advantage of lessons learned to save time, energy and money.
Our Team has demonstrated its ability to function in crisis situations in an innovative and creative mode. Knowledge gained from this event and many others that each Team member has participated in rests with our experienced Team. And nowhere else! The talent and knowledge found only in this Team is now available to others. Nowhere else, regardless of the organization or who the individuals might be, will you find people who have actually done the job rather than theorize about it. The Capitol Hill Anthrax event was unique.
SSA has more than 60 years of experience between Dr. Stutzand Dr. Schuh, the two principals. In addition, SSA can call upon Associates to assist in areas requiring specific expertise or for large projects. SSA, as well as individuals within the organization, have participated in projects on a global basis at all levels of industry and government ranging from the development and presentation of hazardous materials programs to the design and implementation of new public safety organizations. SSA has worked with hospitals, schools and local governments in developing and implementing ethics programs.
